So you have this amazing goal that you’re working towards, you’re 3 months from reaching that year-long vision that you set for yourself when the universe decides to throw a curve ball at you! Your dog broke your housemates vase, your house flooded, your spouse is driving you nuts, or better yet your grandfather reversed into your car with your brother-in-law’s car (that actually happened to me!).
Feelings of guilt, frustration, anger, fear, resentment, all the negative shit starts popping up in that inner voice in your mind – “WHYYYY ME?!?!?”, you think to yourself. You’re a good person, you always do right by other people, you frequently put others best interests ahead of your own, you put good vibes out into the universe and get repaid in metaphorical bird shit on your head (which is apparently good luck but you get what I mean)!
You’ve been there. I know you have. And I know how you feel too.
But let me tell you what. These moments. These fragments of man-made time, these few minutes of fury, they’re GOLDEN!
Do you feel as though the universe is just wanting to test you? To see how badly you want that goal/dream/vision that you set out for yourself? Do you still want it even if you’ve stumbled on a potential 2 to 3 year road block?
How bad do you want what you want? How big is that burning desire?
Because greatness is never made in comfort zones lovely, and no great feat in life is meant to be easy. Heck, Henry Ford failed and went broke five times before he became successful in the automotive industry! Remember that next time you stub your toe on your bedpost!
Think about that most recent time that you were tested; either by a family member, a friend, a work colleague, or even that chit chatter voice inside your head.
What happened in that moment? And how did you respond?
Did the shit hit the ceiling or were you calm and calculated? Did you make a rash decision or did you take the time to breathe into the situation and respond from a place of calm?
Of course you’re going to have moments in life that test you, everyone at some point does! It is in these moments that you really need to consciously check-in with yourself, especially if you feel a sense of helplessness, because when all else fails you’re actually never, ever helpless. There is always something that you can do for YOU!
Always try to be mindful of the fact that the one thing you do have control over is your own actions, emotions and feelings both towards yourself and others.
I’ll leave it there for tonight, as always remember – Be happy. Be true. Be you.
