What kinds of food do you crave? Do you crave fresh fruits and vegetables? Caffeine? Processed chocolate? Ice-cream? Fast food? Do you feed your cravings without thinking about them, or do you use this as a chance to tune-in and listen to your body? If you crave crap artificial “junk” foods then please allow me to let you in on a little secret that I so fortunately learned the hard way, usually when you crave the not so good stuff it’s because your body is giving you a sign, a message that something is not quite right in your system. Truth.
First things first, you need to go within and deconstruct your cravings to understand why your body is craving that certain food/beverage.
Because your body doesn’t make mistakes. It just doesn’t.
When the body is craving something you need to pay attention to what it is and why you are craving that particular thing.
Cravings are a signal from the body that allow you to improve your diet/lifestyle to be more in sync with what you actually need. And what you actually need can commonly have nothing to do with the food that you’re craving, I know what you’re thinking… Hang on a sec – Let met explain! 🙂
Once upon a time I would crave the typical “fast food” cheeseburger and chips, or a jam lamington, or heaven forbid a whole entire block of processed chocolate. I was so not in tune with my body, and to be honest the cravings were there to serve one purpose and one purpose only –
I was not happy. And I was not in a good place.
Food was my way of coping, sometimes I would starve my emotions and sometimes I would feed them. I even used to hide chocolates and lollies in my wardrobe during exam time because if my chocaholic sister went anywhere near them I would lose my shit and chuck a hissy fit. I would study and stuff my face. That was one of the ways in which I would cope with the stress to suppress my emotions.
It was through this experience of overcoming various cycles where I would crave unhealthy foods that helped me to realise that anyone can overcome emotional junk cravings just like I did (or emotional starving, they are both fundamentally/energetically the same thing in my opinion).
So, to summarise and repeat:
Cravings are not a bad thing, so don’t shame yourself for it
Cravings are a signal from the body that allow you to dig deeper and to create a lifestyle/diet that is more in alignment with YOU
Cravings are a wake-up call that something in life is out of balance e.g. lifestyle or diet.
When you have cravings, take the time to understand what is going on for you at a personal level. Just because your friend or sibling likes to crave the same things as you it doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing from an emotional and energetic perspective. Because you’re an individual gorgeous, you have different needs/wants/desires!
We are an intelligent species, but for some odd reason we’ve outsmarted our own eating intuition.
The last place we look to determine what to eat is inside our heart. How silly is that?
Go within. Deconstruct your cravings. And instead of suppressing deep, dig deep!
Get to the heart of why you crave certain foods.
Don’t fight it, understand the WHY and the rest will follow.
Love and light to you all.
P.S – Remember – Be happy. Be true. Be you.
